SENATOR SABINI BRINGING OFFICE TO LIBRARIES AND SENIOR CENTERS THROUGHOUT DISTRICT

Senator Sabini's 'Satellite Office' initiative is bringing his casework staff to libraries and senior centers throughout his Western Queens district this summer.

As part of his ongoing efforts to bring government directly to the residents of his Western Queens district, State Senator John D. Sabini (D/WFP-Jackson HTS) announced that he's resuming his 'satellite office' program this summer in which members of his staff will provide multilingual constituent services at various locations throughout his district.

"Sometimes people don't realize that their elected officials can help them with various problems, or they don't find it easy to visit an office," Senator Sabini said. "By bringing my staff directly to their neighborhoods, I'll be better able to serve my constituents."

The 14 satellite office dates, which start on Wednesday, June 21, consist of two staff members at a table at nine senior citizen centers and five libraries in Senator Sabini's district. Assistance will be available on-location in English, Spanish and Russian, with Bengali translation also available. While residents will be able to pick up a wide range of literature about government services from the roving office, the main purpose for the initiative is to bring Senator Sabini's casework operation directly to his constituents.

"People often call my office looking for help in reporting a problem in their community, applying for a government benefit or filing a complaint about a government-regulated entity," Senator Sabini said. "By having casework staff in my district's libraries and senior centers, I'll be able to help even more children, parents and seniors with issues that matter to them."

Senator Sabini's satellite office program was such a success in the previous two years, receiving a positive response from constituents who participated, that the initiative has been expanded this year with two new locations: the RAICES Corona Senior Center and the Jackson Heights Jewish Center.
